Grand Round- Academic friday

Grand Round: Collective discussion around   two to three in patients identified by the hosting unit.  Each registrar will present one patient and clinical questions will be addressed by the rest of the forum.

Problem round will be done by the assigned unit.  A case presentation done by either a diagnostic dilemma or an interesting x-ray will from the focus for the discussion.  I would suggest that the unit informs us in advance around the key discussion point in advance eg:  x-ray/ microbiology so we may get a representative from the relevant discipline to be present so that we may have input from them.

Grand Academic ward rounds are held on Friday mornings following the Journal club presentation where registrars and Medical officer get bedside teaching and are taught clinical presentation skills as well as clinical decision making skills, so as to put the theoretical knowledge into perspective.
